We finally have the green light to go home! Amy's pressures responded beautifully to the nifedipine (which makes me wonder about her pressures the week we had her on nifedipine for contractions, hmmm). Our plan is to go home, get clean laundry, sleep a night, then come back for the weekend.
The boys' supplemental oxygen requirements have decreased steadily! They'll reach their max for feeds this evening. We spent today being with the boys as much as we could. Little Aidan managed to make both Mommy and Daddy cry today! Just looking into his face while holding him, listening to his lullabies... he's a heartbreaker for sure!
We left the hospital around 2:30pm, after treating each shift of nurses to a tasty Sees Candy treat as a thank you for taking such excellent care of us. The drive home was pretty uneventful. A very beautiful day - I can't believe I made this drive in the middle of the night, not 4 days ago... wow. We stopped by the hospital on our way home to say thank you a million times over, and also to pick up Amy's prescriptions. It was good to be home, but at the same time the house seemed empty. Strange because the boys have never been home (yet), but it felt like something was missing. I told Amy that it would be a struggle not to put their furniture together. She laughed and said she was betting they'd have a crib by the end of the day. Sure enough, after dinner I lugged the box up the stairs and put it together! Though it wouldn't be me if I didn't do it twice - forgot the locking washers the first time, lol. And of course, it doesn't fit through the doorway of their room, so it's sitting in the living room behind the couch. :) Oh well - it's a great reminder that we have little bundles growing and thriving in Eugene, as if we need reminding!
Oh, that's right! Put the large, bulky pieces of furniture together inside the room. I remember now! ;-)
