Welcome, Fall! Holy cow - I thought it was still a month away! Silly me. :P
I can't believe how big the boys have gotten! Being away during the week is hard, and I soooo look forward to Thursdays now! Amy isn't so crazy about Thursdays, mostly because they are very busy and hectic for her. But I just love being able to see my boys again!
We walked into their room and omigosh - someone ripped the top off their little isolette!! Apparently there was a bit of an incident with one of the bone saws from the orthopedic surgery floor... Fortunately, they survived the incident with only minor cuts and scratches. Just kidding! They're in an open isolette now! BIG step!!! It's so exciting to be able to see them without the pesky intervening plastic! They "have" to wear their clothes now to stay warm - oh darn. :P We stripped them down, weighed them, and gave them their tub baths. Fun for parents, not so fun for babies, but they were very amiable - no crying at all!
Aidan has officially made 4 pounds now (1810 grams)! Jacob is not far behind - when they were born he was 100 grams (or about 3 oz) smaller than his brother. Last night, he was just 40 grams less, at 1770 grams! They've increased Jacob's feeds to equal his brother's so I'm not surprised he's packin' on the grams! They both had their first eye exams yesterday, too. The best we could expect is "Immature", which is exactly what the doctor said! Since they were so early, the babies are at risk for retinopathy of prematurity - though they were on only minimal oxygen for only the first couple of days of life, any oxygen they are breathing now is more than what they'd see in the womb. Their eyes are still premature at this point, but so far no sign of disease, either. They'll get another exam in a couple weeks.

Um, your cute little dark humor hospital jokes aren't so funny on the blog reader side of things, Dr. Daddy....just saying. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAll kidding around aside though, it is so great that the boys continue to do so amazingly well that you're even tempted to joke around, much less actually doing it. I love it!
Hooray! They're out of the oven! Way to go, boys! I hope you're all in Newport soon.
