Mr. Aidan
Smiley Boy Jacob
Mommy's turn to blog! Daddy had to go back to work today and I needed to check into the doctor to check on my blood pressure so Nana Lillian (Gavin's mom) and I took a trip to see the boys. It's amazing how the hospital is becoming more and more like home. Was telling Nana when we got there how it felt like we never left! We arrived around 12:30 and of course I had to pump the minute I walked into their room. I love seeing them together! They were laying in their isolet together spooning each other. Aidan had his nose nestled into Jacob's head and they were happy as can be. I settled into the chair for some pumping while Nana had some time with the boys. She attempted to take a picture of the boys' feet to show the difference in them and sent pictures to Daddy at work. Menawhile the lactation consultant came in to check on me. Go figure...she said I am making too much milk! She explained that the first part of my milk doesn't hold as much nutritional value as the later half of the milk I produce. So...over the next few weeks I'll be working on decreasing my milk supply so that when the boys finally can nurse they will get what they need (I am sure all of you have learned WAY MORE about nursing, my milk supply and my boobs than you EVER wanted to know ;0) ).After pumping Nana and I said goodbye to the boys for a bit and headed to get lunch. We ate in the cafeteria at the hospital and were both pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I eanjoyed a Western Bacon Cheeseburger and Nana had pizza.
We then walked to the doctor's office to check my blood pressure. After checking in and a short wait I went back to see my doctor. My blood pressure has been good since I got home and considering that Gavin realized I was only taking half my dose we are hoping I can go off all meds on Thursday when I go in for my next check. SCORE!
We then went back over to see the boys. Nana had Jacob time and I had Aidan time. Oh how I LOVE to hold them!!!! Nana was teaching Jacob to count and was singing to him and I enjoyed looking at Aidan and talking to him while taking pictures of him and sending them to Daddy. What a special time! Jacob was so relaxed that he leaked through his diaper and onto the blanket he was wrapped up in. Nana got to do her first diapee change with the boys. Everyone survived ;0). We then talked to our favorite NICU nurse Greg and he told us next time Daddy and I are there together we'll get to put them into clothes! Can't wait to have a Shumate Boys' Fashion Show!! Ever since they were born we have been buying out all the preemie clothes for them. Thanks to Aunt Ely, Grandma Lynne, Kristy, Krista and Daddy the boys are set for clothes! They'll be the most stylin' boys in the whole place!

If loving you & the boys right now means learning lots about your boobs, I think we're all ok with that. ;-) Sounds like a good day! :)
