Happy Birthday Aidan and Jacob!
Aidan and Pooh

Jacob and Piglet
Happy birthday to the boys!  They are 2 months old today and how time already flies....I can't believe all we have been through in the past 2 months and we are alive to tell about it!  As I sit on the couch and watch the boys playing on their "tummy time" mat I am amazed.  To go back and think about the day they were born and to see them now is the most wonderful sight.  Knowing how tiny they were and all the machines that they were hooked up to reminds me just how lucky we are to have them in our lives.  I'll take their crying in the middle of the night and their poopy diapers anyday! (although that may be a different story as they are crying at night...sounds good for now;0) )

Staying at home with the boys has been relatively easy... knock on wood.  They are still sleeping most of the day which is good for me.  I have been unpacking and settling our house so that when they are awake more I can be with them.  Gaivn comes home for lunch every day that he can to help with a feeding and to visit.  He likes to hoard the babies when he's home.  It's perfect for mommy and the kiddos.  When they are awake we read stories, and swing or spend time on their tummy time mat.  They are starting to interact more and to respond to lights and sounds.  I also like to keep PBS or Disney Junior on the TV for good educational noise.  I know all the kid songs now on those channels and I like to give Gavin a running commentary when he gets home about what we have learned.  The other day on Sesame Street we learned about the letter D.  One of the monsters was wearing a doll, dots, a daisy and a dress; and Big Bird came out to do a dance.  We got up and danced as well. And then we know all the words to the "Hot Dog" song on Mickey's playhouse.  Daddy LOVES when I sing that song and it gets stuck in his head.  Ahhh, the joys of motherhood!

Today we spent the day in Eugene...again.  The boys had another eye appointment.  Of course we had a list of places to go while we were in the "big city" which included a trip to Target, Home Depot, Bath and Body Works and a gourmet lunch at the mall food court.  We were lucky enough to be able to meet up with one of our favorite NICU nurses Greg while we were there.  He stayed with us for the appointment and we had a great time.  Greg spent some quality time with them and mom and dad got a break!  They have to go back on the 17th for what will hopefully be their last.  Jacob has a mature eye and the other 3 eyes (Jacob's 1 and Aidan's 2) are still immature.  As soon as they are mature, they won't have to be seen again.  Until then we will travel so that the boys will have healthy eyes. :0)

This weekend we will be getting ready for Gavin's favorite holiday.  We have house decorations to put up, yard decorations to scare the neighborhood kids with, spooky Halloween treats to make and 3 pumpkins to carve.  Who knows...a baby or two may end up on the inside of a pumpkin in a cute pose for pictures? We'll have to see what the weekend brings.  Boo!
