Today is the day! We get to room in with the boys! We didn't get to sleep in this morning since we still needed to run a few errands before we headed to the hospital for the 11am feeding. Once we got to the hospital we fed the boys, put them in their car seats for the infamous "car seat test," did our CPR class and headed to my favorite lunch place at the hospital for one last time.

Our favorite nurse Greg hadn't been around all week and we knew that we couldn't leave before saying good-bye to him so nurse Brian called him and Greg made a special trip in to see the boys! We were all excited to see him but sad to find out that he hadn't been in because he had to put his dog, Amy, down. He made a special trip from the vet's office to see the boys off. We were very honored and grateful for the opportunity to thank him for the amazing care and devotion he gave the boys. He held them both and then headed out. We hung out a bit more with the boys and then left to buy our much-needed freezer before settling down for the night. We went to Home Depot to make our important purchase. We found the one that we wanted and I thought Gavin was crazy to think that we could fit the freezer, all the stuff we had for the boys and the boys into the car for the ride home on Sunday. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt and watched him find every nook and cranny in the car to make everything fit. He always amazes me with how efficiently he can pack. I don't know how he made it all fit, but it did! We stopped for a quick bite at Subway before our sleepless night. When we made it back to the hospital we got ready for the night. We fed the boys and then laid down on the "comfortable" bed the hospital had in the room for us. Wow! That was enough for a sleepless night right there...no twins needed! The night was fairly taxing...between the boys waking and feeding every 3 hours, me pumping, the terrible bed and the nurses having a great time conversing all night we didn't get much sleep at all. A sign of the times to come!

Picture day! After dragging ourselves out of bed for the 5am feeding, we knew we needed to stay awake and get ready for 9am pictures of the boys! We showered and headed to the hopital cafeteria for breakfast before feeding the boys at 8 and then getting ready for pictures. We were pleasantly surprised at how well the hospital pictures turned out and Gavin and I even got to sneak into a few with the boys! We ended up buying a CD full of all 23 poses to be able to share with family and friends. The pictures will also be featured on the hospital's "Web Nursery". (Search for babies born on August 28, 2011.) Now it was time for their 11am feeding and then the trip home! I was so excited to FINALLY park in the "Mother and Baby Going Home" parking spot! I had been waiting 6 weeks for this day!!!! After packing everyone into the car we began the ride home! I was scared that the boys wouldn't make it the whole way without crying but we were both pleasantly surprised! They did a great job! No crying or fussing! Yay!!!!! Once we got home, the boys ate and Gavin unloaded the car. We decided to just relax the rest of the day and recover from the night before. The boys adjusted well and we were well on our way to making the boys a part of their home.

Monday, October 10-Thursday, October 13
We have survived the first 3 days at home! The boys are doing great! They wake every 3 hours to eat and sleep in between. Jacob is a bit fussy and doesn't like to be left "alone" (he's always with his brother) and is much happier in someone's arms. Aidan is very chill and goes with the flow pretty much. We are tired only for the fact that we are getting sleep in 3 hour increments. We have learned to take naps and rest while we can. To add to the mix, first thing Wednesday morning the buyers of our rental house along with their realtors , the appraiser, and the home inspector came to see the house. I barracaded myself in the girls room with the boys and Gavin stayed outside in the backyard with the dogs. We spent most of Tuesday getting the house ready so when they were done at the house, we rested the rest of the day with the boys. Thursday morning, the boys had their first doctor's appointment so we headed out with them. It was quite a chore carrying the 2 car seats...even with the 2 of us! It will take practice (and a healthy bit of finagling) to get used to it. We were happy to see some of Gavin's co-workers and show off the boys to them. The boys did great at their appointment! Aidan showed his true colors by peeing on the weight scale... hence his nickname "Sprinkler". Not to be outdone, Jacob promptly peed on the doctor when he had his check-up! Aidan weighs 5lbs 10oz and Jacob is 5lbs 8oz (twice his birth weight!)! They have gained an ounce a day since they have been home! Yay! We are headed to Eugene tomorrow for an eye doctor appointment! Wish us luck!! :0)
