Best. Weekend. Ever! The girls FINALLY got to meet their brothers this past weekend! Our weekend started early, on Thursday. We packed the boys up and traveled to Portland to meet my mom and the girls at the airport. We were so excited to finally make it to this point...over 2 months old and the girls still had not met their brothers. I know they were excited too! We took Cody back to Nana Lillian's house since she was home again from working in CA. Cody was officially the first doggie to ride in the new car. After hitting a bit of traffic on the way in, we finally made it to Nana's. We decided to feed the boys there before continuing on to the airport. After a few diaper blowouts by Mr. Jacob, we were finally on our way! Once we got to the airport the girls began to fight over who was going to sit in the middle (between the boys) on the way to lunch. Samantha won this argument since she gets carsick. Katie would get her turn later. The whole way to lunch the girls and Grandma Lynne cooed over the boys. Sam was clicking pictures of her brothers and Katie and Grandma were interacting with them from the back of the van. We finally met Nana Lillian for lunch and a "fight" over the boys ensued....dad and I just sat back and let them go at it. Good thing we have 2 babies! Katie had her first experience at holding a baby and Jacob fell right asleep in her arms. Sam grabbed up Aidan and began kissing and loving on him. What a natural! Both girls did great with them. After a great Pho lunch and baby passing we stopped at Target before heading home. The rest of the weekend was fairly low key. We didn't want to make too many plans so that the girls and Grandma could spend as much time with the boys as possible. We did find time to visit Grandma's favorite lunch spot and also have lunch with Megi at Rogue Brewery. The girls had a great time holding the boys, feeding them and interacting with them. Katie even helped us change diapers! Aidan showed his appreciation to her by peeing on her. She also got puked on! Sam was having a quiet moment with Aidan when he puked on her pants and to our surprise....neither girl threw their brothers on the floor! They were also able to give them a bath! The girls decorated their rooms and Sam said that our new house felt like home to her....perfect ;0) The weekend was perfect and I can't wait for them to come home in a week for Thanksgiving! More memories to come...

On another note....November 17th is World Premature Baby Awareness Day. No, this isn't a Hallmark holiday (I checked for cards) but rather a day set aside to learn more about premature babies. We know a lot about this so we "celebrated" by taking the boys to their last eye doctor appointment in Eugene. It was crazy weather on the way there but we made it safe and sound. We had a great lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant that we discovered while the boys were in the hospital and then headed to the appointment. Nurse Greg met us again and kept us occupied while we waited for the boys eyes to dilate. I had emailed him a picture of the 4 kids and he put it up at the nurses station in the NICU. Everyone was so happy to see how well they were doing and to see them with the girls. After waiting a short time, we were called back into the office where the boys had their eyes checked. We were happy to learn that all four of their eyes were now mature and all looked great! Phew! Dodged another bullet....We'll need to go see a pediatric eye doctor in Portland in the next couple of months just because preemie's are more prone to eye issues (wonderful) so we'll get a head start if there is anything wrong. Poor guys are going to hate doctors soon...and that doesn't bode well for poor daddy.
